Armoredhull has been working with the California government regarding the usage of EPA approved Chlorine within the Armoredhull Boat Shields and other boat liners. Until now there had been no pressure on regulation as it was a relatively new concept to the marine industry. Armoredhull has developed the techniques in the past couple of years that can neutralize the water within 5 minutes to a reading of ZERO parts per million (PPM). Armoredhull has proved to San Diego County officials and members of Sea Grant of California and various marina managers that is easy for the consumer to neutralize the chlorinated water prior to discharge. Armoredhull has given hands on demonstrations to the San Diego County Department of Pesticides.
Chlorine tablets have been what was used for the past 20 years and now notices have been sent out by the County of San Diego that 11 chlorinating products in the liquid form are approved for usage (see list below).
As of May 2007 County of San Diego has sent letters to all boat yards and marina's letting our customers know that only EPA approved products are allowed. Armoredhull now stocks the approved chlorine for usage as well as Chlorine neutralizer (complete kits) which when used with a proper dispenser , 4-8 teaspoons will fully neutralize your Armoredhull Boat Shield within 3-5 minutes .
Armoredhull Label on the approved products reads :
To control slime on boat hulls in an enclosed environment, add up to 18 oz of this approved product , Armoredhull has chosen Multi Chlor EPA reg # 10897-26AA . Do not discharge this solution until the chlorine level has dropped to 0 ppm, as indicated by a swimming pool test kit.

Prior to discharge of water from the Armoredhull , add 4-8 teaspoons of neutralizer into dispenser turn on hose nozzle and spray tap water /neutralizer mixture over the surface of the trapped water within the Armoredhull. Wait 3-5 minutes and test for 0 PPM with pool test kit to verify.
Drop the gate and go boating.
Upon return , raise the gate , add up to 18 oz of approved chlorine and your done. During the winter months very minimal amount of chlorine is needed. Our tests indicate that if your boat is not being used the water stays clean for 6-8 weeks without adding any addition top ups.
Testing levels: Our studies have shown that 1-3 parts per million (PPM) of approved chlorine which is slightly above tap water level works to keep any growth from occurring.
Neutralizing the water before discharge is required by law.

Shade covers block sunlight , (sunlight starts growth) we now make custom shade covers reducing chlorine usage by up to 80 percent !
If your going boating within the next few days , no need to add chlorine, 5-10 minutes of tap water is plenty of dilution. Armoredhull shield blocks any food source from entering the closed environment. Opening and closing of the gate by weekly usage keeps the water from becoming stagnant.
Liquid chlorine disperses way better than tablets and cleans faster.
5 minutes of circulation of tap water with high pressure nozzle with chlorine every now and again cleans algae up in hurry.
Zincs need to be replaced as a maintenance item and you should have a diver come and check them every few months and replace them when they are more than 25 % eaten away. Zincs last up to 4 times longer in an Armoredhull saving you lots of money each year.
Heavy weight ! Just look at your flotation system is it lower than normal ? That is your indicator that it's time to get it cleaned. Up to 2,000 lbs of mussels can grown on the outside in one season in certain area's. Left in a heavy condition for very long puts undo stress on structural parts.
Outside perimeter grows lots of lettuce kelp in the sunny hot weather and mussels mating season begins in June , we suggest having a diver come and scrape off the outside once in April or May and then in October or November . Marina's don't want to see out of control growth - nor do your neighbors. Contact us or your marinas for names of Diving Companies that clean our product.
Stainless Steel clamps need replacing every now and again , electrolysis from your boat can destroy clamps if you have bad bonding within your metals on your boat. SS clamps will last up to 3 years or more but in some cases of electrolysis they will last only months, check the clamps by opening the pouches and looking every now and again.
Special plastic scrapers are available for purchase that will not harm the Armoredhull plastic. Make sure who ever cleans the outside uses the proper tools. Do not pressure wash or use metal scrapers or wire brushes . Seams can be blown apart or holes can form from doing so.
Sharp objects : Docks get lots of mussels and barnacles that grow at and below waterline. Armoredhull always installs protective bumpers between the dock and your floatation system. Check to make sure they are in place for protection against rubbing, check other area's on your dock that may chaff holes in your material. Heavy black plastic UV zip ties can be used to close up holes from prop strikes or chaffing.
Walk your boat out and glide it in to avoid propeller from striking the material. Extra propeller guards are available for purchase giving additional protection.
